The UK is set to progress with utilizing the entire amount of frozen Russia's funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the UK, France, and Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They further noted that the initiative would be implemented in strong partnership with the America.

British sanctions have frozen over £25bn of Russian resources since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. However, until now, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had only been taken from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were united in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the total worth of the immobilized Russia's state funds to halt hostilities.

He added that additional measures over the next period would increase the strain on Moscow.

This declaration comes after EU officials met in the Danish capital recently to discuss using immobilized Russian funds for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on international partners to take or otherwise use frozen Russia's holdings, based on news outlets.

The total of seized Russian holdings in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

President Zelensky encourages the United Kingdom's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL programme

Russia executed widespread bombardments all over Ukraine on Friday, leading to power cuts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Two people were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the assault, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on social media following the incident, Zelensky stated that the premeditated assault aimed at public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not empty words but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told reporters he would press Sir Keir to participate in the PURL programme, under which Nato countries purchase weapons from the America to give to Ukraine.

While commending the UK's firm backing for Kyiv, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the initiative, as well as apply additional sanctions on Russia.
