Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
