Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
